Updates & changes - blog

NEW Malaysian Blog - http://malaysianeggs.blogspot.com/

(screenshot examples now posted for your own convenience! click on the images to see FULL SIZE =D)

Hello! Your 2009 ex leader here.
As you all can see there are obviously noticeable
changes to the blog.
Now no one has any excuse to NOT know Malaysian Group online! (:

Heh. Yes that was meant to be somewhat of a joke.

For those non-Blogger users,
Blogger(the site that hosts this blog) may seem much too simple and boring at first glance. BUT it is actually very convenient and useful; especially for Group blogs..! I did not change the format of the skin(as in NOT use a skin NOT supplied by Blogger) as using Blogger's skins does hold some advantages. Unless one is a moderately skillful Blogging enthusiast/specialist/coding pro...the extra widgets(e.g. polls, pictures, slide shows etc)surrounding this blog cannot exist.

That said, hopefully everyone is satisfied with the overall look of this website? (:

Everyone please thank Debbie and spam her with much undying love and admiration for starting this blog idea and making use of the Gmail services :]

Although this is generally called a blog, it can also serve as an official public website..! Of course there is also the existing, default one in the EGGS INTRANET; of which hardly anyone really pays attention to, sadly; of course, this is most likely due to because there aint any cool stuff in there unlike what we have in Facebook and such ;) So take a good look around!

Committee members, feel free to edit/add anything to your liking!
(At a level that satisfies the overall look and feel for the committee of course)

Here are a few tips...

The Man's mini guide to site navigation(For Dummies):
*Note: To understand the screenshots refer to the "A,B,C" letters and numbers on both this POST and the SHOT.

1. [Blog posts] no screenshot as fairly obvious.
Mainly from your left side(centre) there is of course, like any other blogs; a blog WHICH
any member of the committee can post on. In fact, it's the area you're reading on right now!

Hopefully all of you committee members still remember the username and password to log in, yes? *shifty eyes*
Either that or you tell one of us to add you in as an author of this blog from your existing/newly created Blogger account.

You can also leave comments of any kind under each posts where it says "(quantity) of comments". So..Reports,notes,news,information,lessons etc...anything! Go crazy (:

2. [Top contents i.e. Committee list,Slide show,Chat]

Click on images for full size.

[A] ♣-At first when you enter the site you of course see the title "Selamat Datang" and some copyright claims of the creators etc. Selamat Datang translates to "Welcome" in English, FYI.
[B] ♣-Look after the title and you will see the Malaysian Committee list for 2010(or in the future for that matter); so as to inform any newbies of who to look for for the corresponding roles they each have. (Or just to boast about your friend being in an awesome group?:D )
[C] ♣-After that is a slide show of photos from Polyfest; memories of the wonderful efforts by our hardworking dancers♪ Anyone is of course, allowed to change this. But Polyfest for now is there as it is so far, I presume, the BIGGEST accomplishment for Malaysian Group so far, yes? (three cheers!♥)
Our current wonderful leader Debbie has a Photobucket(the current host for that Slide Show; from Ann's account) account as well...so she can probably contribute to the photo collection~ Of course, Photobucket doesn't have to be the default slide show to use.
[D] ♣-Yes, there's more (: Lastly, we have the Chat box at the bottom, right before the blogs. Yesss it is the big yellow blob thing in the middle. This chat box is for anyone to use and any non-member/future member/current member/groupie/random is allowed to leave a message here...with the exception of verbal abuse and such of course. Lol. If one just wants to leave a quick message for inquiries or does not know how else to contact the group, they can leave a message there too. As said before; go crazy! (:
By the way; you might have noticed some words in the chat box do not seem to make sense(for e.g. "Sebelum/Before,Sudah/After,Nama/Name"). The words before the "/" are Malay words for the corresponding English word after. Malaysian Group EGGS, seeking to improve your language skills, for your own convenience. Heh.

3. [First column to the right: Subscribe,Search, archive, sites, language, poll, media i.e. extras]The GREEN BOX in the right contain the following:

Click on images for full size.
[E] ♣-So first,we have the "Subscribe via Email" box. If you put in your email in the empty space, you will be updated with every update of new Blog posts in this site by EMAIL. So why not? SUBSCRIBE NOW! :D
[F] ♣-In the 2nd part of the tiny green box, we have the Google search, which enables you to search this blog of anything. I've tried searching simple stuff like "Currypuff" (which is the 2nd blog post's title) but nothing came up. So it probably depends on the TAGS of the posts for the results. Should we change it to a general Google search bar, you think? Opinions?
Might change that one day...

[G] ♣-And then we have the Blog Archive. Just something you can look at to access previous posts or whatever. Very self explanatory.
[H] ♣-Now right after the archive we also have some important links of some posts that prove useful for the remaining century or future. So it has been pointed out for your convenience. (Like this post, for e.g.)
[I] ♣-Good heavens, there's more? Okay then we have some
useful links that relate to this Malaysian blog. Such as the EPSOM GIRLS' official site, which leads to EGGS INTRANET if you're using the internet at home. If you are an EGGS girl, you can access the other official EGGS Malaysian Group site in Intranet. Every cultural group is given a personal site to promote or advertise their group in the school. Take a look at the screen shots below if you don't know how to access it. The site is not very uh, attractive, per se, but it's a start. This was what we had to work with when Facebook or Blogger didn't exist, so it's kind of part of a long history haha. You can also contact the Leader of the Group(by SCHOOL email) and access previous Malaysian photos(very old photos) in this site.

There is also a link to the Facebook Malaysian Group page. More on this later. (Join if you have Facebook!♥)
[J] ♣-Right after the links we have the Language box. This box gives you a list of Malay words you can learn from, just for the fun of it (: At the moment it only has one word. Hah. So learn that world well! It will increase as the blog gets more popular/views. A counter(to count views) shall be put in there soon. So view it up, dear fans!
[K] ♣-Okay! Laaaaaaastly, we have the wonderful voting poll. At the moment it's just about how awesome Debbie is. Anyone can change this poll anytime. Heh. (But don't forget to vote how awesome she is! Not that she already isn't ♥)

The WHITE BOX also in the right contain the following:
This white box is the Media box.
(pictures,artworks,designs,videos etc.)

Click on images for full size.

♣- Under the green tiny box is where the 2 photos and 1 video of Malaysian Group are located. ANYONE of course, can add more stuff relating to Media to this section. (If you do, be SURE to edit this post to respond to the change) The video at the moment is from our memorable Polyfest performance. The 2 photos are of the Malaysian dancers & Mrs Orr and yours truly; just to introduce some people of the group that have tremendously contributed a lot to the group. Remember girls, Mrs Orr is your wonderful Teacher in Charge (:

4. Bottom green box under blog posts

Click on images for full size.
♣- Past all the posts and extras, this last box is just to tell you who can write in the blog/who's in charge. So far Debbie,Ann & the original Malaysian account(which committee has access to) are able to write in this blog.
*If you want to update the Malaysian blog in terms of layout etc however, you are required to log into the account itself.
This part also tells of how many accounts/people are following this blog.

-End of Site Navigation for Dummies section-

And that's that for the SITE NAVIGATION help with the site!
As time progresses however, some info in this site will of course, have changed. So, this guide/post will change constantly to match with updates of the blog's appearances. It is the committee's job however, to keep this post updated, so as confused members who are new to Blogger layouts can properly understand the separate exciting sections in this site (:

Look forward to more about the Facebook page/Gmail/Intranet!

Currypuff Testdrive :)

Hey again guys, sorry for seeming like
I'm taking over these posts atm.
Basically anyone can upload or post whatever
they want to.
So yeah. I'm just trying to get everyone in
the habit of documenting any Malaysian
experiences/committee gatherings/school events/
idea etc.
:) and hopefully I'll see many of your posts on this blog.

So me and my mum decided to cook some Nasi Lemak tonight.
If you dont know what this is, its a Malaysian rice dish consisting
of curried meat, ikan bilis (kinda like anchovies),cucumber slices &
half a boiled egg.
Sounds complicated, but its actually SUPERDUPER easy to make. :)
Photobucket

And after that, we started to make currypuffs, which we're planning
to sell at Athletics day and POSSIBLY FiaFia Night.
And here they are. (Pre-baking)
Photobucket

And look at that baby one!
Teehee. There wasnt enough dough for another one, so I made
a baby one. HOHOHO.
Aint it cute?
So yeah, i'd like to get the girls together again,
at my house this time.. Just so they can certify
whether the currypuffs are good enough to be sold at school.
Malaysian Gathering next week maybe???
And we could GuitarHero again. HAHA!

we spent the rest of it taking turns on Guitar Hero.

All in all, a fun day.
Thanks everyone for attending, and for going through
the trouble of making all taht amazing food.
Your efforts are much appreciated :)
